About Us

Welcome to Mom Abroad!

I am a Charlotte-based blogger, photographer and first and foremost mother. I have always had a passion for travel. I guess you could say I was bred for it as both of my parents were flight attendants. I had been to 18 countries before I started kindergarten and have been exploring the globe at every available opportunity since.

In 2002 my husband and I were married in Italy and chose to spend what we would have on a big wedding at home traveling all over Europe instead. Fifteen years later we still hold to the importance of making memories together. Especially after our oldest son was diagnosed with osteoclastoma in 2008 and our youngest daughter was born later that year with Mitochondrial Disease and Primary Immune Deficiency.

Those curve balls have only strengthened our resolve to make as many memories together whenever we can, wherever we can. Last year we downsized our house so we could cut our mortgage in half and be able to travel more together. Our kids are growing quickly and want to be able to look back and know we made the most of our time.

My mission at Mom Abroad is to help you make the best memories you can too. I know you’re busy (moms understand busy!), so I’ll wade through the multitude of ideas to present well-edited, actionable lists and features that are really worth your time.

You can look forward to…

*The best things to do on your vacation in each area.

*Hidden gems and often easily overlooked attractions.

*Travel tips and helpful advice from how to pack to taking better vacation photos.

*The dish on great places to eat at your destination.

*Thrifty ways to save money on travel and adventures.

*Fun places to stay and quick getaway guides.

I also love hearing your suggestions (Know of a great camping spot? Let me know). I’ll do my best to organize the information in an easy-to-skim format, so you can spend less time in front of a computer screen and more time on things that really matter –like making memories.

Enjoy!
